Yılmaz YAZICIOGLU was born in 1963 in Istanbul. Graduated from Italian High Scholl in 1982 Got into Istanbul University Faculty of Law in 1983 and received his bachelor degree in Law in 1987. He is registered with the Istanbul Bar Association since 1989, under the registration number 15670. Delegate of the Union of Turkish Bar Association on 2010-2011 period. His academic career started at Marmara University Faculty of Law in 1989 as a Research Assistant at Criminal and Criminal Proceeding Law Department. He received his LL.M. degree In 1991, with the thesis of “The crime of Killing of a New-Born Child.” Later in 1997, completed his Ph.D. and received his doctor’s degree in Criminal Law with the thesis of “Criminological, Sociological and Legal Aspects of Computer Crimes.” In 2010, with his unique work “ Crimes Inflicted by Law of Intellectual Properties” assumed the title of Associate Professor. Between 1997–2009 he lectured at Marmara University Faculty of Law as a Professor at Criminal and Criminal Proceeding Law Department. In addition to basic courses such as; General Principles of Criminal Law, Special Provisions of Criminal Law, Criminal Proceeding Law, Human Rights, he especially gave graduate and postgraduate courses in IT Crimes and the other specific subjects of Criminal Law at Kocaeli University Faculty of Law, Yeditepe University Faculty of Law, Bilgi University Faculty of Law, Istanbul Etiler Senior High School of Policeman and Florya Şükrü Balcı Senior High School of Policeman. In 1990-91, he studied at Bologna University “Antonio Cicu” Enstitute of Italy, over the subject “criminalità informatica” within the context of the research scholarship given by Italian Government. In 1996, he represented Istanbul Bar Association at the international seminar “La carcerazione preventiva nella legislazione europea-Remand in Custody in Europe” held by International Bar Association, in Milano. In 2008 he took a part in Turkey’s defense at the OECD Anti-Bribery Convention. Besides his published books; “Computer Crimes”, “Crimes occurred from Intellectual Property Rights”, “Penal Codes”, he also has many articles, presentations and publications regarding criminal law institutions. Actively concerned with the sport of water polo as a master level. In addition to avocation activities such as skiing, sailing, windsurfing, scuba diving, motorcycle riding Criminal Law, Criminal Proceeding Law, Commercial Criminal Law, Information Technology Law, Intellectual Property Law, Copyright Law, Sport Law, Law of Contracts are the subjects he is actively practicing.
